Horror has a tradition of being used as a means of putting social constructs on blast, laying them bare for the picking. Why are horror tropes and antagonists the perfect place to critique world order? Do readers and watchers of horror want social commentary a la Peele's racial discourse in Get Out and Romero's commentary on consumerism in Dawn of the Dead or is it intrusive to the story? Does using horror as a social platform make it too "heavy" or is the weight welcomed?
