Donate to the Multiverse silent charity auction!

In case you missed it, we recently announced that Multiverse 2019’s charity events will benefit RAICES (the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services). RAICES is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency that promotes justice by providing free and low-cost legal services to underserved immigrant children, families, and refugees.

One of our charity events? A silent auction where all proceeds go directly to our charity!

And so we’re currently looking for geeky items to auction off at Multiverse for the benefit of RAICES. If you already have something in mind to donate, e-mail giving@multiversecon.org with pictures, if applicable, and a suggested starting bid.

If you’re not sure you’d have something your fellow Multiversians would like, however…

Examples of cool silent auction items we’d adore

  • Collectibles still in packaging (Funko pops, action figures, vintage comics etc)

  • Art prints, signed or unsigned

  • Fantasy, sci-fi, or horror books/comics, signed or unsigned, any edition, in good condition

  • Cosplay parts (ex: masks, costumes, fake weaponry, fursuit heads, etc)

  • New board games or rare trading cards (ex: MtG)

  • Fantasy, sci-fi, or horror memorabilia (ex: a letter from Gary Gygax, a mint condition DnD t-shirt from the 80s)

  • Jewelry, leatherwork, or other wearable crafts

  • Handmade items (ex: sculpture, minis, posable art dolls, etc)

  • Experiences (ex: behind-the-scenes tours of a zoo, a day trip to the spa, con tickets, etc)

  • Geeky toys (ex: a crocheted Dalek doll, a Star Trek-themed Rubix Cube, a remote control BB-8)

  • Video game consoles in mint condition

  • Misc electronics (ex: Kindle Paperwhites, iPads, drawing tablets)

  • Unused art or crafting supplies

  • Art, cosplay, or craft commissions (please note: we have the right to ensure you have a professional track record when it comes to these!)

  • Services (ex: book cover design, 3 hours of copywriting, etc - see above on track records!)

  • Items or merch with safe-for-work furry themes (ex: a Hyena Agenda shirt, a Dutch angel dragon vinyl sticker, a custom-designed Warrior cats lanyard, etc)

Not sure we’ll take the donation? Try anyway! The worst we can say is “no thank you,” but chances are we’ll like the cut of your jib!

As for fandoms, creators, and themes Multiversians appreciate most…

  • Really, anything in fantasy, sci-fi, and horror!

  • Examples in fantasy: The Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, Dungeons & Dragons, Nnedi Okorafor, Neil Gaiman

  • Examples in sci-fi: Star Wars, Star Trek, The X-Files, Doctor Who, Octavia Butler

  • Examples in horror: Stephen King, Dracula, The Walking Dead, werewolves, Lovecraftian creepiness

  • Superheroes of any genre - Marvel, DC, it’s all good

  • Very mainstream anime (ex: Dragonball Z, My Hero Academia, Naruto)

  • Narrative-based or RPG-based video games (ex: the Fire Emblem series, The Last of Us, The Elder Scrolls series)

  • My Little Pony - yes, really. Come at us with ponies

  • Memes - appropriate ones!

If you have anything outside these fandoms and themes—for example, awesome obscurer anime merch—don’t panic! You can still donate it. However, keep in mind we may save it for a later year as we expand our programming and thus our audience’s tastes.

In conclusion…get charitable for RAICES! (Please?)
